A Visit Down Under For Divya Seker

As Client Relationship Manager for Quantaco, I usually spend my day-to-day working from the Hyderabad Office, but after nearly 2 years (and my trip being postponed due to COVID), I recently had the opportunity to spend 4 weeks in Sydney working from the Australia office with the team. It also happened to be the first time I’d left India and travelled overseas, so it was a big milestone to travel on my own.

Here’s how it went…

Visiting Quantaco Australia: On the Agenda

As a high-growth company, we’re constantly improving processes, hiring, and striving for excellence, which is part of what makes working for Quantaco exciting. As Client Relationship Manager, I am one of the points of contact for clients’ day-to-day activities, meaning I bridge the gap between Sydney Client Directors and processors on the ground.

Meeting the Team

Having met some of the team for the first time at the Gala Dinner in October 2022, it was a pleasure to be introduced to the rest of the team in person after working remotely for so long. The work culture at the Sydney office is different from Hyderabad, but everyone was incredibly welcoming and took great care of me.

And just like in Hyderabad we work hard so we can play hard which meant taking me out to play Pokies (where I won $40!), having crocodile and kangaroo pizza, as well as pub hopping.

Matching Values

Visiting the office also really reaffirmed how much we live by our values at Quantaco. The culture lends itself to being open and honest. I know I have the liberty to express myself if I have any suggestions or concerns and not feel intimidated to speak up.

But I think the value I align with the most is ‘Customer-Obsession’, and even though I’ve thoroughly enjoyed building these relationships remotely, it was a whole other experience getting to meet them in person. I absolutely love client-facing opportunities and being able to visit them during my trip really strengthened the relationship and gave me confidence in what we are doing together.

Here are just a few snippets from clients I visited during my stay:

Working from a client’s office

I had the opportunity to work at one of our client’s office for a few days which was a great change because I was able to work directly on queries with them. I also visited the venues to get better clarity on what goes on behind the scenes, and I got a real in-depth understanding on gaming, CRTs and much more.

However, a real highlight was being able to be part of their menu-tasting process where I got to sample some of their new dishes, which was incredible (and delicious!).

Management Report Meetings in the Country

I was fortunate to be in Australia at the time of one of our largest groups quarterly review meetings, it was held in a country location, so I was lucky to be able to see more of Australia than just the city. Everyone made me feel very comfortable, and it ended up feeling more like a get-together than a formal management meeting. We went out for dinner and more than 5 hours flew by, it was great to be able to build a personal relationship over such a fun and entertaining evening.

Ticking off Many ‘Firsts’ in Australia

Of course, during my trip, I also had the opportunity for downtime as well! And once my partner arrived in Sydney, we were able to visit the main attractions like Sydney Harbour Bridge, the Opera House, and Palm Beach.

But it wasn’t just the first time leaving my country, I ticked a lot of other firsts off the list including:

  • Camping – setting up the tent was intriguing
  • Skydiving – an incredible experience taking the train to Woollongong to jump off an aircraft from 15,000 ft
  • Visiting the tourist hotspots of Sydney – Sea Life, Sydney Tower Eye, Taronga Zoo, Hyde Park, Madame Tussauds, Sydney Fish Market, Harbour View, China Town
  • The famous beach walk from Bondi to Coogee
  • We drove to the Blue Mountains – it was mesmerising, and quite a challenge wanting to leave!

I want to say a big thank you to everyone who gave me the opportunity to see what life is really like in Australia. It was an incredible and refreshing experience that I will never forget! Everyone was welcoming and I got to experience everything that the team and Sydney have to offer I can’t wait for my next trip!
