Event Recap · Australasian Gaming Expo 2026
What operators told us at AGE 2026
We spent three days on the floor at the Australasian Gaming Expo this year, and by the end of it a pattern had formed that was hard to ignore.
We spoke with operators from right across the sector: leagues and RSL clubs, bowls and sports clubs, community pubs and hotels, and multi-venue groups. They came from metro Sydney, regional New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria, South Australia and the ACT. Different venues, different sizes, different states.
And yet the conversation kept circling back to the same frustration.
Too much time chasing numbers, not enough acting on them
It didn’t matter whether we were talking to a single-site club manager or someone running a group of venues. The story was familiar. End-of-day reconciliation was eating up the better part of an hour. Information lived in several disconnected systems that didn’t talk to each other. Getting a clear read on how gaming and food were actually performing meant pulling reports from different places and hoping the numbers lined up.
Operators didn’t want more data. They wanted less time gathering it, and more time acting on it.
Most of the operators we spoke with had plenty of data already. What they wanted was to spend less time gathering and reconciling it, and more time doing something with it. In other words, they wanted to make decisions from solid figures rather than best guesses. That’s the gap Quantaco was built to close, so it was good to hear it described so consistently by the people living it every day.
Four themes came up again and again
Across dozens of conversations at the stand, four themes stood out. Here’s what operators told us, and how we think about each one.
Faster end-of-day
The single most common complaint was time. Daily reconciliation that should take minutes was instead taking the better part of an hour, every day, across every venue.
That time adds up. An hour a day is a working week every month that a manager could spend on the floor, with staff, or with customers, instead of at a desk keying in figures. Quantaco brings the daily numbers together so reconciliation becomes a short, routine task rather than a nightly chore. Our clients using Cashup reconcile every trading stream, POS, gaming, CRT and petty cash, in a fraction of the time.
Numbers in one place
Plenty of operators described the same daily juggle: gaming in one system, wagering in another, food and beverage somewhere else again, and a spreadsheet stitched together to make sense of all of it.
Every hand-off between systems is a chance for numbers to drift, and every manual copy-paste is time that could go elsewhere. When gaming, wagering and food performance sit in a single view, you stop reconciling systems against each other and start reading the venue as a whole. That’s exactly what Q Insights is built for, connecting POS and financial data into real-time dashboards you can actually act on.
A view across the group
For the multi-venue operators we spoke with, the challenge scaled with the business. Managing one venue is one thing. Managing five, each with its own systems and its own way of reporting, is another entirely. Too often it meant chasing each site separately and never quite having a consistent picture of the group.
Consistency is what makes a group manageable. When every venue reports the same way and rolls up into one view, you can compare sites fairly, spot the outliers early, and make calls for the whole business rather than reacting site by site. Giving operators that single, consistent picture across every venue is central to what the Quantaco platform does.
Less manual admin
Underneath all of it was the same theme: too much repetitive manual work. Re-entering the same figures, checking them, and fixing the errors that inevitably creep in.
Manual admin is a double cost. It takes time, and it introduces mistakes that then take more time to find and correct. Automating the repetitive data entry doesn’t just save hours, it makes the numbers more trustworthy, which is the whole point. The less time managers spend on admin, the more they spend running the venue.
The common thread
For all the differences between a suburban bowls club and a multi-site pub group, the underlying need was the same. Operators want better visibility, tighter control and less time lost to manual work, so they can make confident decisions from numbers they trust.
That’s exactly the problem Quantaco is built to solve. We bring data, technology and expert support together so operators across pubs, clubs and gaming venues can stop guessing and start deciding, with a dedicated hospitality accounting expert alongside the platform, not just software.
If this sounds like your venue
Whether it’s the hour lost to end-of-day, the disconnected systems, or the group you can’t quite see clearly, the best next step is a short conversation focused on your venue type and the challenges you’re facing.
